a bit about me

My name is Alex & some of my friends call me Fern! Over the last 5 years, I have been professionally designing flowers and leading a small team into bringing to life, boutique style events & other florals for the Northern Nevada area.

I got my start working for a cottage bakery in Las Vegas, which exposed me to the world of the "Bridal Spectacular Expo". While I have a passion for baking sweet treats, I always knew my true talents lie in floral design & event planning. After gaining my confidence and finding my own style,

Fern & Fruit was born. Currently serving the wedding industry, I wanted to create a brand that includes everyone and encapsulates the meaning of being in love with who you want.

Being a gay artist in the floral industry might not be a new thing, however I know there is a need for gay & queer people to have a safe space and mutual respect of their love story. No matter who you are or where you come from, I truly can't wait to meet you.

2014-2016

Attended Las Vegas Bridal Spectacular

Over the course of a long weekend, we meet thousands of brides looking for all kinds of vendors for their weddings.

At the time, I baked, iced and gave away mini cupcakes for a gluten free bakery. During my time at this business, learned how to make personal wedding items like bridal bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages. This is where it all began!

2020-2025

Head Floral Designer & Floral Lead

Starting in the middle of the pandemic, I knew that if the world was ending, I did not want to spend my days tucked away in the back of a bakery. I felt a pull toward something more meaningful, something that let me create and connect. Floristry became that path for me, a place where I could grow, experiment, and discover my own voice as an artist. From collaborating with UNR to being part of community events like Hot August Nights, KTMB, and A Day at Riverside, each opportunity gave me confidence and shaped my style. Those experiences not only built a portfolio but also gave me the spark and the courage to begin Fern & Fruit, a dream rooted in creativity and joy.
